Cook Group, the first company to introduce devices for interventional medicine in the United States, chose Essex Publishing to produce a book about its European operation. In 2009 the Essex team produced Snowing in Chicago, the story of the founding and growth of Cook in the United States. The new book, Sparks from a Distant Fire, published in English and Danish in October 2017, tells the story of William Cook Europe, which since the late 1960s has contributed significantly to worldwide medical science, to Europe’s position in the healthcare industry and to the success of Cook Group itself.
